Welcome to acu in practice! This post is to bring awareness to the equine diagnostic acupuncture exam or DNAP. If you’re an equine acu vet…you are very familiar with the DNAP and probably use it on a daily basis. This important tool provides a noninvasive way to assess pain and other imbalance in our equine friends. Here’s what our colleague Dr. Megan Wickersham, an integrative equine vet certified through IVAS, has to say: “The equine diagnostic acupuncture palpation (DNAP) exam is a diagnostic aid to locate pain and structural disease. We know that the evaluation of a patient from a TCVM standpoint involves all of our senses. A detailed history, visual exam, listening and palpation of pulse and the body help us to identify “the thread that binds the whole”.
