We are excited to announce that the 52nd Annual IVAS Congress 2026 registration is now open! In an effort to keep Congress registration costs as low as possible, there are some changes to the Gala Dinner. Please read the letter about the changes this year. If you would like to pay via Check or ACH, please complete the Congress Registration Form and email it to [email protected] and let us know your method of payment.

The 52nd Annual IVAS Congress will be held September 16-19, 2026, in Reykjavik, Iceland at the Harpa Center. Plan to attend the IVAS Congress in an unforgettable location known as the land of Fire and Ice!

Iceland has a unique landscape with unmatched rugged beauty, volcanos, glaciers, waterfalls, geothermic hot springs, geysers, and so much more, making it a nature lovers’ paradise. So why the nickname fire and ice? Iceland sits in the middle of two tectonic plates: North American and Eurasian, simply put, Iceland is slowly being ripped apart by the forces of nature. With two major tectonic plates under Iceland’s feet, volcanism is the “fire” part of the nickname, with 30 active volcanic systems, and the “ice” part is from the 269 glaciers.

This unique relationship between glaciers and volcanos and other great feats of nature is all part of the wonderful landscape you’ll get to experience when you attend the IVAS Congress in 2026 and see how Iceland received this nickname.

September is a transitional month for Iceland, and a great time to visit, as the summer tourist crowds are gone and it is considered sweater weather. The average highs and lows in Iceland during September fall between 5-11 °C (40-52 °F). There are 13 hours of daylight and with sweater weather brings the Icelandic landscape to life, with shrubs and trees begin changing color to golden yellows and brilliant oranges depending on where you are in the island.
