If you’re an equine acu vet…you are very familiar with the DNAP and probably use it on a daily basis. This important tool provides a noninvasive way to assess pain and other imbalance in our equine friends. “The equine diagnostic acupuncture palpation (DNAP) exam is a diagnostic aid to locate pain and structural disease. We know that the evaluation of a patient from a TCVM standpoint involves all of our senses. A detailed history, visual exam, listening and palpation of pulse and the body help us to identify “the thread that binds the whole”. This allows for symptoms, subtle pain responses and physical restriction to be interpreted together to determine the underlying imbalance. “![]()
