Welcome to the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). We are professional leaders as the proactive worldwide advocate for veterinary acupuncture and related treatment modalities.

The International Veterinary Acupuncture Society has been setting the global standard in veterinary acupuncture since 1974. Throughout the world veterinary acupuncture is a growing specialty among veterinarians. Integrative veterinary therapies are increasingly in demand by clients seeking the best possible care for their pets.

IVAS is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization, specializing in certifying licensed veterinarians in the practice of veterinary acupuncture. IVAS holds certifying courses throughout the world, and the United States. In order to provide continuing educational opportunities, IVAS coordinates with other recognized organizations and institutions.

Membership

Dues – US$110.00 each year.  Our membership is from July 1 through June 30.

Certified Members
Certified members shall be currently licensed veterinary graduates of colleges and schools of veterinary medicine who are in good standing with their regulatory authority, and have completed all IVAS requirements for Certified membership. Certified members shall have completed and attained IVAS Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture or have successfully completed an equivalent program of veterinary acupuncture education and training recognized by the International Education Committee. Certified members shall maintain annual continuing education credits as approved by the International Continuing Education Committee (ICEC) and published in the official publication and/or website of IVAS. Certified members shall be current on dues remittance. Certified members have the right to vote. To be eligible to vote, confirmation of Certified membership requirements must be received by the IVAS office ten (10) days prior to the call for vote.  Certified members can Chair a Committee or hold office on the BOD and HOD.

Associate Members
Associate members shall be currently licensed veterinary graduates of colleges and schools of veterinary medicine who are in good standing with their regulatory authority, but have not successfully completed all IVAS requirements for Certified membership.  Associate members include veterinarians undergoing training, enrolled in an IVAS approved acupuncture or herbal medicine course or in the process of obtaining certification.  Associate members may also include veterinarians enrolled in training in a non-IVAS approved course if the veterinarian submits proper documentation to the IVAS IEC for review and recognition of courses meeting a certain educational standard.  Associate members shall have the same rights and privileges as Certified members except that no Associate member shall hold any office, chair any committee, or be a member of the HOD.  Associate members have voting privileges.  To be eligible to vote, confirmation of Associate membership requirements must be received by the IVAS office ten (10) days prior to the call for vote.  Associate members shall be current on dues remittance.  Associate members shall maintain annual continuing education credits as approved by the ICEC and published in the official publication and/or website of IVAS.

Allied Members
Allied members shall include all other categories of members as described or determined and approved by the Board of Directors.  An Allied Member shall be currently licensed veterinary graduates of colleges and schools of veterinary medicine who are in good standing with their regulatory authority, and have an interest in supporting IVAS and its mission, and have not taken any IVAS approved courses in veterinary acupuncture or herbal medicine.  Allied membership also includes but is not limited to allied health professionals and educators who are not veterinarians including organizations and industry members.  Applications for Allied membership if not a licensed veterinarian, shall be accompanied with completed curriculum vitae of the applicant and letters of recommendation from two Certified members of IVAS.  No Allied member or representative of an organization or business shall hold any office, chair or be a member on any Standing committee, or be a member of the HOD.  Allied members who are licensed veterinarians have voting privileges.  To be eligible to vote, confirmation of Allied membership requirements must be received by the IVAS office ten (10) days prior to the call for vote.  Non-veterinary Allied members cannot vote on any matter.

Student Members
Students currently enrolled in a college or school of veterinary medicine are eligible for student membership in IVAS.  Rights and privileges shall be determined by the Board of Directors.  Student members shall not hold any office, chair or be a member on any committee, or vote on any matter.
